Careers Guidance and Counselling is available to students, who can make appointments to see the Careers Advisor. A Careers Resource room, providing a library of information is available for student research. Career Information is widely distributed via Careers Advisors, Faculty Co-ordinators and Teachers in Charge of subjects.
Students will have the opportunity to attend liaison visits, open days, career expo, STAR & Gateway courses and undertake work experience. Career Education programmes will be developed in accordance with the “Guidelines for Career Education in NZ Schools”.
Students “at risk of leaving school unprepared for the work place or future education / training” will be identified by teachers, Deans and the Guidance Counsellor in the course of their daily duties and referred to the Careers Advisor. Students wishing to leave school during the academic year will be seen by the Careers Advisor before being issued with a leaver’s form. Students intending to leave school at the end of the academic year in Years 11, 12 and 13 will have their career plans monitored by the Careers Advisor.
