Information Commons Building

On Friday 23 October the new Information Commons was formally opened by Head Boy Ben Thomason and Principal Mr Russell Brooke. Staff and students were welcomed into the new building by the College’s kapahaka group. Previously known as the library, the refurbished building bears little resemblance to its former self. Principal, Mr Russell Brooke said ‘this marvellous, edgy refurbishment will provide an information heart for our modern school. Books will still be the main element but they will be used in conjunction with computers. Students on the College’s My Choice programme of self directed learning will use the Commons as their home base. The Commons is the first of three stages of development, with the second being the refurbishment of the theatre into a high tech small and intimate theatre, and the third being the development of a Main Street LBC which will link these buildings and fields and provide a funky modern environment for the students to enjoy’.
