This course is divided into four sections: Section A: Students are required to perform pieces of music on their chosen performance instrument/voice, as a soloist and have the option to perform as a member of a group. Section B: Students are required to compose a selection of music pieces and create an instrumentation. Section C: Students are required to describe the theoretical basis of a variety of music scores and to demonstrate aural/listening skills. Section D: Students study music works of varying styles and eras which they describe and analyse. Students must be learning a musical instrument through formal tuition either privately or through the school itinerant programme.
