This course follows on from L3MDS

In this course students will develop their keen interest in the media as an industry and its cause and effect relationship with its audience. We will focus on exploring the way a media text can be read in different ways dependent upon the audience’s own experience of the world around them. Within this course we will look at how aspects of a director’s style influence the reading of a text, aspects of genre and how the controls of a media industry reflect the products on the market. A large portion of this course is dedicated to practical film making where students are challenged to plan, design, and produce an 8 minute short film which requires a significant time commitment in Term 1.
