TEACHING POSITIONS

SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS 

LIBRARY MANAGER – We seek a mature applicant with good communication skills and good English skills, who is organised, efficient and calm, who will enjoy working with and motivate young people and a large staff to use the library facilities.  Must be passionate about reading and able to create a stimulating and inviting environment.

  • Promote the role of the Library and the range of resources colleagues and students can access through the Library.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan inquiry units and identify appropriate resourcing and scaffolding to support students’ research.
  • Plan, develop and implement new and improved information services including electronic and web resources.
  • Maintain the circulation of resources, issues, returns, overdues, shelving, record-keeping, requests.
  • Prepare and present an annual report which focuses on the Library’s support for teaching and learning, highlighting significant developments and identifying future needs.
  • Keep up to date with current research on teaching and learning and apply this to student learning in the Library.
  • Design and implement school-based in-service education for teachers about the use of the Library facilities and development of research skills.
  • Order and process Library materials – preparing orders, cataloguing and indexing, typing, processing, laminating, book binding.
  • Maintain the collection of resources, shelving, repairs, stock checking, withdrawing of materials.
  • Maintain the issuing and return of classroom textbooks.
  • Coordinate requests from students and staff for National Library resources.

SYSTEM INFORMATION MANAGER

The position is one with overall responsibility for all of the system and information needs of the College and external educational agencies such as the Ministry of Education and New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

Key areas of responsibility would relate to achievement data, reporting, student records, staff records, library, and other student resources and archives. The successful applicant will have the ability to work autonomously and also as part of a much wider team and will be able to process, illustrate and communicate data and information to assist the school in improving learner outcomes.

Experience in information management, system development and good people skills are essential whilst knowledge of student management systems software, particularly KAMAR, and a thorough grasp of Excel are a distinct advantage. This is a 40 hours per week salaried position for 52 weeks (adjusted for annual leave).

Start late May.

Remuneration to be negotiated, however the candidate should be aware of school support staff pay scales. This is a Grade C role.
