Coronavirus

Long Bay College is following the advice provided by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education regarding the Coronavirus outbreak in China. Reports currently assess the risk of an outbreak in New Zealand as low.

The Secretary of Education, Iona Holsted has made communication to schools and based on that advice we ask the following:

Any student who has arrived from China in the last 14 days (or will be arriving in the coming days) will need to stay away from school for 14 days (this includes weekends) from the day that they arrive in New Zealand.

If a student has travelled to another country and may have come into contact with someone who has the virus while travelling, then we would also ask the same.

If this advice changes, we will contact you straight away.

If you have any concerns about the health of your children, the Ministry of Health guidance suggests that you contact Healthline at 0800 611 116 or your GP for medical advice. Healthline has translators and interpreters available 24/7 in 150 languages and they do have Mandarin and Cantonese speaking staff available.

Should the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Education determine that the situation has changed, we will inform you of this as soon as possible.

It is a good opportunity to remind all families that if your child is unwell at any point this year, we would ask that they stay at home.
