Sustainability Week raises awareness

Long Bay College’s  Sustainability Prefect Portfolio and our dedicated Ecolution group hosted a Sustainability Week from June 5-7. The team promoted and sold environmentally-friendly products, demonstrated ways to reduce waste, held a tote-bag painting workshop plus other activities at lunchtimes. A Yoga teacher was invited to the College after school to teach students techniques for sustaining the body. The awareness week saw Ecolution group members highlighting the important benefits of trees and plants in our environment. On one of our wettest and windiest days this term, the sun came out just in time for the group, who dug deep to extend the College’s cultural garden near the English block on the northern boundary of the school. They planted a variety of native plants and trees. Thank you to those in our community who purchased plants for the cultural garden and volunteered with planting.
