Arts Groups

Voxette is Long Bay College’s premier auditioned choir. The group participates in many competitions and concerts and is directed by Mrs Rhianna Maker. Highlights throughout the year include ‘The Big Sing’ National Choral Competition and ‘Voxette Camp’, which is held at Shakespeare Regional Park. Rehearsals are from 3:30pm to 5pm on Tuesdays in the school

This is a group for the orchestral strings – violins, violas, cellos and double basses. We play a wide range of music including film, music, classical and popular music. The groups are for players of Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums. We focus on music in the jazz style, which includes swing, blues, rock, Latin, and many others in between. Every Long Bay College student has the opportunity to receive tuition in a wide variety of musical instruments (including voice). Itinerant musicians visit the school during the day and for weekly lessons. The students benefit by learning a new instrument or developing their skills in a musical instrument of their choice. Concert Band is the school’s top woodwind and brass ensemble and meet before school on Wednesdays to work on playing together as a group and cover a wide range of awesome pieces. They represent the school in school concerts, in the community and at festivals around the country. Entry into this group is by audition.

Big Band is the school’s top jazz group.  Rehearsals are on Thursday mornings from 7:30am to 8:30am to work on playing jazz repertoire and learning to improvise. They represent the school in school concerts, out in the community and at Jazz festivals around the country. All students in this group must also join the Concert
