Mufti Day and Food Drive


This Wednesday. November 18, we’re holding a Mufti Day to raise funds for Foster Hope who help support vulnerable children. Students – please bring a gold coin donation. In addition, we’re holding a Food Drive to help those in need prior to Christmas. Items will be donated to the Salvation Army to distribute. Please bring packaged, non-perishable or canned goods (Christmas-themed if possible). Items will be collected during Atawhai or can be placed in the collection area in A Block foyer from Wednesday to Friday, November 27. All the schools within the Oneroa Kahui Ako have collaborated on these initiatives so it is great to see the whole community supporting these activities. Year 9 Camp Information Evening


We’re holding a Year 9 Camp Information Evening for parents/caregivers and students on Wednesday, November 11 at 6.30pm in the staffroom. Please come along if you have any questions, queries or concerns ahead of the camps scheduled for the end of November and start of December (note: it is not expected that you attend if your child is going to camp – only if you would like to ask questions or wish to find out more).

2020 Premier Sports Awards – November 3

Long Bay College will be celebrating the successes of our students’ in Sport at the 2020 Premier Sports Awards on Wednesday, November 3 at the Sir Neil Waters Lecture Theatre, Massey University, Albany Highway (Gate One). Students must register from 6.45pm. The official ceremony commences at 6.30pm.

2020 Arts Awards

Long Bay College is excited to celebrate our students in the Arts on Tuesday, November 3 from 6.30pm in the College’s Auditorium. Invited members are welcome from 6.30pm with the official ceremony beginning at 7pm.

Whanau Hui – November 2

Talent Quest rescheduled for Oct 23


We love giving our students a chance to shine and showcase their amazing talents! Our annual Talent Quest was postponed due to COVID-19 Alert Level 3 restrictions, but it is now rescheduled for Friday, October 23, 7pm in the College Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door. It’s a fun night. Come along and support our students and see who becomes the Talent Quest winners of 2020.

Long Bay College senior ball is back!

The Long Bay College senior ball is back! Covid-19 restrictions have seen it rescheduled twice but we are delighted to announce it will be happening for our senior students next month. Year 13 students, please see your email for details. Tickets need to be purchased from the Cashier (located in the Photocopy room just off A Block foyer) by Wednesday, October 21.


Year 13 Drama perform ‘Blood Wedding’

This October 21 and 22, Year 13 Drama will perform ‘Blood Wedding,’ a play written by Federico Garcia Lorca. Everyone is invited to the Auditorium for the evening performances. With lots of fantastic talent on stage, you won’t want to miss this night of entertainment. Tickets are $3 at the door.

The play is a tragedy about a young woman and two men who are fighting for her love. The bride is in love with Leonardo but their families do not get along so Leonardo marries another woman. The bride is also arranged to be married to another man, whom she doesn’t love, but will marry to appease her family’s wishes. Leonardo confesses to the bride that he is still in love with her. At first, she tells him to be silent but then confesses she still loves him too …


We’re hosting a careers expo and you’re invited


In association with the Ministry of Education, we’re bringing you a specialist Trade and Vocational Pathways Expo. It’s a chance to learn more about the trade and vocational tertiary providers from the creative to technical sectors. Students and their caregivers of all ages in our community are invited to attend. Come along for some future career inspiration!

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 when it is hoped Auckland will be back at Alert Level 1.
